Rev. Emmett O. Major Sr. is a native of Fairfield, Alabama.  He is the eighth child of the late John and Gertrude Major.  He graduated from Alabama State University with a B.S. in Sociology Psychology, and a M.S. in Counseling.

In 1986, Rev. Major was ordained an African Methodist Episcopal Zion minister.  He received his first appointment as a pastor at Rodgers Chapel A.M. E. Zion Church in Wetumpka, AL.

He has served as pastor for Hilliard Chapel A.M.E. Zion, Walker's Chapel A.M.E Zion, and Liberty Hill A. M. E. Zion Churches.

Rev. Major is married to Charlean J. Major.  They are the parents of three adult children and grandparents of six children.  

Mrs. Charlean Major is a native of Bessemer, Alabama.  She is the fourth and last daughter of the late Charlie and Josephine Jones.  
She graduated from Alabama State University with a B.S and M.S. in Biology and Chemistry.

Mrs. Major has served in the field of education for forty years in Montgomery County, Auburn City Schools, Southern Union State Community College, and in Macon County.
